What Are Fever Blisters?

Fever blisters are lesions that appear on the skin as a result of:

  • poor immune system health or
  • trauma on the skin.

Fever blisters are also called cold sores. The blisters usually appear along the edges of the mouth, the lips and even inside the mouth. They usually heal on their own without the need of any kind of treatment. It usually takes one to two weeks to completely disappear.

Fever blisters are painful and unsightly. So most people who develop them look for quick ways to get rid of these ugly cold sores.

Hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria that can potentially infect the blisters. It has a drying effect on skin that kills the herpes virus which usually thrives in warm and moist environments.

  2. Let the solution dry
  3. Rinse with water and dry with a clean washcloth.

Apply hydrogen peroxide on the blisters for at least 3 to 4 times a day.

Try Ice

Another effective way to get rid of fever blisters is to use ice. Ice will numb the area reducing the pain, swelling, and redness.

  1. Put ice in an ice pack or dip a washcloth in ice water
  2. Place it over the blisters for about 15 minutes.
  3. Repeat the process 3 to 4 times a day.

Try Garlic

Garlic has natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Garlic can get rid of fever blisters fast. You can also bet that garlic will improve the healing time of your wounds and lesions. Best of all there are no side effects to using garlic.

  1. Simply crush two cloves of garlic until you make a paste.
  2. Use the garlic paste to cover your blisters for 15 minutes.

Repeat this technique two to three times a day for two days to completely reduce fever blisters.

To get rid of fever blisters is easy, however, this condition often recurs. So the best thing you can do tot prevent them is to keep your immune system strong. Eat a healthy diet, exercise and stay healthy.

Be cautious when using antibiotics since this is one way to reduce immune system health. Use antibiotics only when necessary.
